Additional Adjustments

The side view (short side) of an emerald cut with protruding belly facets. 8% percent will be added in the weight estimation formula to compensate for this excessive characteristic.

This pear shape has high shoulders so 3% will be added into the weight estimation formula to compensate for this characteristic.

In addition to the GTA (Girdle Thickness Adjustment), some additional adjustments may be necessary for fancy shapes. These additional adjustments may include high shoulders on pear shapes, protruding pavilion bellies on emerald cuts, and squarish shapes on ovals. An additional one to eight percent must be added to account for these cutting characteristics. The exact percentage -- to be determined by the estimator --depends on the excess degree of those cutting characteristics.
