Qualifying Your Customers

Qualifying your customers will save you a lot of unnecessary shipping expenses, and keep your diamond suppliers happy when they get checks in the mail instead of returned merchandise.

There are two main types of people that you have to qualify. (1) The buyer. (2) The non-buyer. With a series of questions in a short conversation with each customer, you should be able to predict one or the other. Of course a buyer may not necessarily buy from you, but a non-buyer will definitely not buy from anyone. This is the method the author has found extremely effective but you will want to modify it to fit your style and personality.
