Even with proper pavilion angles, a large table caused by high crown angles will display a fish-eye.

The area of dispersion is severely limited by the large table, and the small surrounding crown facets.

The upper stone has proper 34.5 ° angles, displaying a richer amount of dispersion compared to the flat crown pictured below it. The arrows represent white light.

The table is the most important single facet on the diamond. If too large, it decreases the size of the surrounding crown facets (the crown mains, stars and upper girdle facets) and as a result it reduces the area where much of the dispersion occurs. If it's too small, the amount of light entering the stone is limited, resulting in less dispersion. Even with proper angles on the bottom of the diamond a very large table can produce a fish-eye, as shown in the following illustration:
