Selling Broken Diamonds

Insurance Company Diamond Salvage

The owner of Lovelady Diamond attended the American School of Diamond Cutting graduating in 1980. His expertise lies in determining finished value of chiped, nicked, burned, bruised or scratched diamonds. Very few diamond experts are capable of this due to their lack of knowledge in diamond cutting and seeing the end result beforehand. Typically we see diamond salvage buyers offering too little due to a misunderstanding of finished carat weight, color, clarity and cut ( proportions).

As damaged diamond buyers we want to develop long term relationships with our clientele by proving our honesty and expertise in diamonds. Please browse our website so you can be further assured of knowing that you are dealing with a professional.

This lightly burned diamond will lose very little weight in a repolish.

This large chip has removed the culet which would make an estimated weight loss of 35% likely.

Some beginners might mistake this natural (original skin of rough) for damage.

Diamond with a very large chip

A very large chip out of this princess cut will render the finished diamond with an estimated 40% weight loss.

Bearding

Bearding (small internal fractures on the edge), is caused in the cutting process, specifically girdling (rounding) due to excessive force by the girdler.

Many times a cutter (or dealer) will opt to recutting this old European cut into a modern round brilliant removing the chips at the same time.

This medium sized chip will result in an estimated 10% weight loss after a recut.

Scrtaches on the table of a diamond

Scratches on the table of this diamond is likely intentional. The only substance that will scratch diamond is diamond itself.

Timepieces can be a trendy market but we have the knowledge and experience to bid quotes that satisfy our sellers and leave a small profit to run our business. We are not watch snobs so we have expanded broadly outside of the typical "we only buy Patek, Rolex and Cartier" mentality.
